Colantuono gets Palermo axe

Intnl FootballStefano Colantuono has been sacked by Palermo after just one game of the new Serie A campaign with Davide Ballardini replacing him.

Palermo President Maurizio Zamparini wasted no time in making the change after watching the Rosanero crash to a 3-1 defeat at Udinese on the opening day of the season last Saturday evening.

The defeat followed on from the embarrassing Coppa Italia defeat against lowly Ravenna which resulted in Zamparini deciding to make a quick change at the Sicilian outfit.

Ironically Colantuono was sacked by Zamparini last November when Palermo were sixth in Serie A, before being reinstated before the end of last season. However there seems no way back now as Ballardini has been drafted in as his replacement.

Ballardini shot to fame last season when he guided Cagliari to safety with a fantastic run of results in the second half of the campaign.
