England to check on Rio

Intnl FootballEngland will make another check on Rio Ferdinand on Friday ahead of this weekend's World Cup qualifier against Andorra.

The Manchester United defender missed a second day of training on Thursday due to a neck problem but flew out to Barcelona with the rest of Fabio Capello's squad.

Ferdinand will be assessed again on Friday with club colleague Wes Brown favourite to replace him if he is ruled out, although Matthew Upson and Joleon Lescott are other options.

Midfielder Frank Lampard seems certain to be fit to start the match having shaken off a dead leg while Joe Cole, who also missed training on Thursday, is expected to be fit despite to a calf injury.
