Injury blow for Spain

Intnl FootballSpain have been hit by the news David Silva has withdrawn from their squad for their World Cup qualifiers this week.

The Valencia winger picked up a knock to his left ankle in the opening weekend of the Primera Liga and is now ruled out of the games against Bosnia-Herzegovina on Saturday and Armenia next Wednesday.

It is the second injury blow for the Euro 2008 winners, who are preparing for life under new coach Vicente Del Bosque, after Liverpool striker Fernando Torres was ruled out of the squad after suffering a hamstring injury in the goalless draw at Aston Villa on Sunday.

Del Bosque has decided not to call-up any replacement for Silva.
