Pompey not dreaming of Freddie deal

Intnl FootballPeter Storrie has revealed that Freddie Ljungberg will not be signing for Portsmouth, but Thiago Motta could be handed a deal.

The Pompey boss has been linked with a move for veteran Sweden international Ljungberg, following confirmation that Croatian midfield star Niko Kranjcar was set to miss the next three months of action due to ankle surgery.

However, Redknapp insists he will not be making a move for the player, who was released from West Ham during the summer, while a raid for Turkish side Fenerbahce's Ghana international Stephen Appiah is also unlikely.

Indeed the only deal which is a possibility before the deadline is for Atletico Madrid's former Barcelona midfielder, Motta, who has been on trial at the club all week.

Chief executive Storrie told The News: "Ljungberg will not be coming, definitely not. We have no interest in him. Motta is here at the moment and we are having at look at him.

"He's been having medicals to see how he is and we will take it from there."
