Rooney tipped for England impact

Intnl FootballMan Utd striker Wayne Rooney is only going to get better after criticism over a lack of goals, says England team-mate Jermain Defoe.

Rooney has netted just three times for his country in the last two-and-a-half years which has led to calls that he struggles to replicate his club form on the international stage.

But Defoe has jumped to the defence of the 22-year-old who has hit over 50 goals for United since 2004.

"Maybe you could say the expectation on him has been unfair but he has set such high standards, by doing so well in his career," said Defoe.

"But he is at a great club, he is still young and he is still learning."
