Hull City are bidding to hijack Ipswich's move for ex-Manchester United midfielder Quinton Fortune.

Fortune has been invited to train with Town before the start of the season by his former Old Trafford colleague Roy Keane.

But Hull City boss Phil Brown has now set his sights on signing Fortune as he looks to strengthen his defence.

Fortune, 32, is available on a Bosman free transfer after leaving Belgian club Tubize, where he spent last season.

The South African international, who has also had spells with Sheffield United, Sunderland and Bolton, is expected to hold talks with the Tigers later this week.
