Defender eyes Swansea return

IpswichDefender Pim Balkenstein is ready to give boss Jim Magilton an injury boost by returning to action against Swansea on October 18.

Balkenstein has been out of action for the last week with a groin problem and will again be missing from the side that faces Charlton this weekend.

But the Dutch defender is poised to make a return to full training next week and, providing he proves his fitness in a reserve team game, has pencilled in the Swansea clash to make his return.

Ipswich physio Matt Byard told the club's website: "Pim is stepping up his rehab and is now jogging.

"We are looking at him being back in full training at the start of next week and it's possible he could be involved for the reserves against Southend on the Tuesday.

"If that all goes well, then hopefully we can look at him being available for the Swansea game."
