Arsenal and Spurs are battling it out for Ipswich's £8million-rated England youth international Connor Wickham.
Wickham starred for the England Under-17 side as they became European Under 17 champions in May and his performances are thought to have alerted Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger and Spurs counterpart Harry Redknapp.
Redknapp has already seen a bid of £5million knocked back by the Tractor Boys, while it is thought Arsenal are yet to make their move.
A bid of £8million may be enough to convince Ipswich to cash-in on the talented youngster, with some reports suggesting Spurs are ready to make an improved offer and allow Wickham to rejoin Ipswich on loan next season.
Ipswich boss Roy Keane is eager to retain Wickham's services but he may be unable to prevent the player's exit as the club are believed to be somewhere in the region of £50million in debt.
