Ipswich boss Paul Jewell paid tribute to his side after they nicked an injury-time winner to stun bottom of the table Coventry.

After taking a first-half lead through Jay Emmanuel-Thomas' low volley into the corner, Ipswich were pegged back as Sammy Clingan drew Coventry level from the penalty spot before Gary Deegan's low drive put the home side in front before the break.

However, Coventry - who have now thrown away a possible 20 points from winning positions this season - were unable to hold onto that advantage as Michael Chopra netted twice in the second half to earn Ipswich a 3-2 win.

The experienced striker levelled the scores up in the 64th minute when he followed up to net the rebound after Joe Murphy had parried Lee Martin's penalty on to the crossbar. Both sides went for victory in what was a thrilling final quarter but it was Chopra who won it for the Tractor Boys five minutes into stoppage time, heading in from close range from Andy Drury's perfect cross from the right.

Jewell said: "It's happened to us on numerous occasions this season (late goals) so it was nice to get one that went for us. It was end to end in the second half and when it went to 2-2 neither team was settling for a point.

"You try to keep your emotions in check because your opposition is there but we have been through an awful lot as a group and it was nice to have a little bit of payback for all the late goals we have conceded."
