New boy too late for debut

IpswichIvan Campo will not sign for Ipswich in time to face Preston, but keeper Richard Wright will make his second debut at Portman Road.

Former Spanish international midfielder Campo has agreed to join Town following his release from Bolton at the end of last season. However, he is not due to undergo a medical at the club until Monday which means he is not available to face North End in the Championship curtain-raiser this weekend.

Former England keeper Wright rejoined the club from West Ham in the summer and should start between the sticks, while Dutch defender Pim Balkestein could make his debut at left-back. Former Leicester man Gareth McAuley will partner 18-year-old academy graduate Tommy Smith in a new-look centre-half pairing.

Kevin Lisbie, who joined this summer from Colchester, should start in attack as Jon Walters will be absent as he attends the birth of his child.

A heel problem will keep midfielder David Norris sidelined, but Macedonian Velice Sumulikoski is fit after his foot injury.
