Town open the bidding for ace

IpswichIpswich have reportedly opened the bidding for in-demand Crewe striker Nicky Maynard by making a £1m bid.

Town will face massive competition for the 21-year-old who has already smashed 35 goals in 65 games, with Premier League sides Middlesborugh, Hull and Fulham all credited with an interest.

Portman Road chief Jim Magilton will hope the chance of regular football will appeal more than a squad role in the top flight for Maynard.
