Liam Trotter is set to sign a new one-year contract with Ipswich Town despite a longer-term deal on offer from Scunthorpe United.

The 20-year-old midfielder was expected to sign a permanent deal at Glanford Park after impressing during his loan spell with the League One play-off winners last season.

But Trotter now appears to have had a change of heart and will opt to fight for a place in Roy Keane's side.
