Liam Trotter is expected to turn down the offer of a new contract at Ipswich to sign for Scunthorpe United.
Trotter did well on loan at Glanford Park at the end of last season and Iron boss Nigel Adkins made it clear he wanted the youngster on a permanent basis if a compensation package could be agreed between the two clubs.
It's expected a deal will be struck and Trotter should seal a move to United.
Meanwhile, Town boss Roy Keane has offered 19-year-old Ed Upson a one-year deal at Portman Road.
The midfielder failed to break into the side under Jim Magilton but has been given a major boost after being handed a new deal. "It was a difficult season for me last year and I did think that I might have to move on but the new manager has come in and it's given me a massive boost that he has given me a new contract," Upson told the club's official website.
