David Moyes is being linked with a £2m move for Jermaine Beckford as Everton bid to avoid missing out on him in the summer.
Everton are said to have reached a pre-contract agreement with the striker whose deal at Elland Road runs out this summer.
But following high profile goals against Manchester United and Spurs in the FA Cup Moyes is said to be anxious to tie up a deal now. Newcastle are said to have had two bids for the striker turned down, with the last one being worth £1.8m, and Moyes is thought to be concerned that Beckford's recent high-profile goals could see a club make an offer before the transfer deadline that Leeds would have trouble turning down.
