Simon Grayson is confident of signing an adequate replacement for Jermaine Beckford if the striker departs Elland Road this summer.
The Whites boss made the admission just a day after Carlisle United frontman Danny Graham was mooted as the man who would have to replace Beckford's goals at Elland Road next season should he depart to pastures new.
Grayson insists he has not made any firm enquiries, but revealed that will change should 25-year-old Beckford, who has scored 54 goals in his last two seasons for the Whites, be sold on ahead of the final year of his current contract.
He said: "Jermaine could still be a part of pre-season. As the chairman has said, there's been a few enquiries for him, but no bids.
"At this stage it's quiet, people have been away and people are looking around, but before we start pre-season things might happen."
Grayson added: "I've got players in my head who I think can replace him if he goes. But I'm not going to be doing anything until we know what's happening.
"Football's all about ifs, buts, and maybes and we'll wait and see on this one."
