Whites must wait for striker target

LeedsJay Bothroyd is said to be 'flattered' at interest from Leeds United but will keep his options open before deciding who to join.

The 26-year-old striker has been made available for transfer by Wolves boss Mick McCarthy and has attracted the attentions of several Championship clubs, including FA Cup finalists Cardiff City.

The Molineux outfit have accepted a deal worth £300,000 from the Whites, but Bothroyd's spokesperson insists he wants to choose his next club carefully.

He said in the Yorkshire Evening Post: "Jay is flattered to be linked with Leeds United. But he will be making his decision a little later on in the transfer window.

"There are a few other interested parties. But Jay realises Leeds are a huge, huge club and he is considering this option.

"Jay has huge respect for Gary McAllister, having worked with him before. He knows what he can bring to a football club."

"Jay has one year left (at Wolves) and is taking his time to make a decision.

"At this moment, there is no rush and he is concentrating on getting fit for the season, regardless of where he is."
