He told the Mercury: "Things like that happen but I am just focusing on what I am doing on the pitch."
On last season's relegation, he said: "The team didn't get to know each other. We had a lot of new players at the start of the season and new players midway through.
"This time there has been a real pre-season and we have got to know each other as a group.
"Hopefully we have a real team spirit because that's what we need.
"The manager is trying to get a good team bonding going. He wants us to do things as a group and he is keen on ensuring how fit we are.
"This league is going to be a fast league and he wants us to play our football."
