Leicester City are set to swoop on League One side Port Vale to sign highly-rated young defender Joe Davis.
Foxes boss Nigel Pearson appears to have been alerted by the 20-year-old's decision to rebuff the offer of a new one-year deal at Vale Park and Davis will instead secure a move to the King Power Stadium where he will become part of City's Development squad.
The club will have to pay Vale a fee because Davis, who has made 31 first-team appearances for the League One side, is under the age of 24.
There has been no word from the club about the deal, but Vale boss Micky Adams has confirmed that the player is in talks with the Foxes.
"As far as I am aware Joe is negotiating with Leicester City," he told the Stoke Sentinel.
"People will make a big thing of it, but this is Leicester's under-21s we are talking about, not the first team.
"It is my understanding that he is on holiday at the moment, but when he gets back he will finalise a deal."
