Oakley enjoying captain's role

LeicesterLeicester captain Matt Oakley is relishing the task of leading the side in the absence of Stephen Clemence.

The former Derby midfielder says he enjoys the responsibility of bringing young players on and helping them through games and told the Mercury: "I like being captain. I have captained all of my teams and I do like the responsibility of it.

"I think this year I am probably surrounded by more young lads. They need help and guidance while they have lots of energy. I have to use that as well to help me and I think that's dragging me along.

"I feel a lot fitter this year, and fresher. I am getting chances now where last year I was not getting into the box.

"I scored in pre-season. I should have scored on Saturday and finished the game off. It was not to be but hopefully the goals will come."
