Danny Drinkwater has told Leicester fans that the team will be ready to hit the ground running when the Premier League season starts.
The 24-year-old midfielder played a big part in the Foxes' Championship title-winning success last season and subsequently penned a new deal at the King Power Stadium earlier this month to keep him on board until summer 2018.
The release of the new Premier League fixtures threw up a difficult start for Nigel Pearson's men as they face Everton at home on August 16 followed by games against the likes of Manchester United, Arsenal and Chelsea.
However Drinkwater, who was voted Player of the Year last season, insists that the Foxes will be able to hold their own.
He told the club's website: "The club's making positive steps already. Marc Albrighton has played a lot of games for Villa in the Premier League, Matt Upson has got a massive amount of experience and Ben Hamer has proved himself at a good level too. Things are shaping up well and we're definitely looking to the future.
"We played Premier League sides last season. They were cup games, but they still had massive quality in their squads. It wasn't a bad benchmark, so it's given us an idea of what's coming, but we'll be ready."
