Leyton Orient are sweating on an injury to defender Gary Sawyer.

The left-back was stretchered off with a leg injury early in the second half of Saturday's 2-1 defeat by Hartlepool.

Manager Russell Slade has yet to hear the extent of the damage but admitted he feared the worst.

"It's too early to say at the minute but obviously he's got a nasty injury," said Slade, whose side head to Southend in the second leg of their Johnstone's Paint Trophy southern area final on Wednesday night.

The O's are trailing 1-0 from the first leg a fortnight ago.
