Agger eyes regular start

Liverpool defender Daniel Agger says he is hoping he can do enough to earn a regular spot in Brendan Rodgers' starting XI.

The Denmark international was deemed surplus to requirements by former Swansea City boss Rodgers for several weeks but made a rare Premier League start in Liverpool's 4-0 victory over Fulham on Saturday.

Agger has admitted that he was frustrated to miss out on a starting role after a freak gym accident, but hopes his performance against the Cottagers was good enough to cement his place in the side.

He said: "It is difficult to describe but I want to play all the time, every single game.

"When you are not playing that is difficult but, while that is sad, I just try to work even harder every single day in training, not complaining just doing everything a bit extra.

"I am more than capable of being in the team - I feel I belong there - but it is the manager's decision and sometimes that is difficult to change in training.

"You need to grab the chance when it is there - that is what football is all about."

Agger's next chance for a starting role for the Reds, who you can back using your free bet, will be on 23rd November when they face Merseyside rivals Everton at Goodison Park.
