Agger happy to commit

Daniel Agger says he will work hard in training to impress Rafael Benitez and win back a Liverpool first-team shirt.

The Danish international has not played for the club since the Champions League qualifier in Belgium in August when Pepe Reina saved a penalty to clinch a 0-0 draw with Standard Liege.

Slovakian star Martin Skrtel, also 23, came into the side after that match and has not looked back with fine displays in all five subsequent matches.

Agger was not even on the bench for Saturday's win over Manchester United amid fears that he could be looking for a route out of Anfield via the Webster ruling, with quotes from him earlier this week suggesting he was aware of the ability to buy out his own contract.

However, Agger says he is ready to show the kind of commitment required in training to get back into the team.

Speaking after the Reds' 2-1 in Marseille on Tuesday night, he told TV2: "I sat on the bench today so that is an improvement. All I can do at the moment to get into the team is to work hard in training."
