Liverpool midfielder Joe Allen insists he eager to put his injury problems behind him and make a fresh start to life at Anfield.
Allen joined Brendan Rodgers in moving from Swansea to the Merseyside outfit last summer and although featuring in 37 games he was suffering with a shoulder problem.
The Wales international was forced to undergo surgery in March and had his debut campaign brought to a premature end.
The 23-year-old has returned to pre-season training this week and admits he is relishing the chance to fight for a place in Rodgers' starting line-up.
Allen said: "My shoulder feels great, I feel back to normal.
"Over the summer I had to continue my rehab, but luckily, by the end of last season I had done most of the things I needed to, so it was just a case of keeping on top of it.
"I think for anyone, your first year at a new club can be tough in some ways, but I feel settled here now and I'm looking forward to a fresh start with the coming season. Hopefully I can put in some good performances."
