Alonso still keen on Juve

LiverpoolLiverpool midfielder Xabi Alonso has admitted he is still open to a move away from Anfield with a switch to Juventus still on.

The 26-year-old looked as though he was on his way to Juve on the summer for a £16m fee but they instead opted to go with Sevilla's Christian Poulsen and last week their coach Claudio Ranieri claimed they hadn't signed Alonso because he was 'too slow'.

Despite being a regular in the Liverpool side this season he is still open to a move away from the club and would still like to go to Juventus so a switch next summer is still on the cards.

"To be honest, for my part, the attraction has remained intact," Alonso told the Italian press.

"One thing I can say is that I personally appreciated the honesty of the club executives.

"They told me their tactics on the pitch were different and that is why they chose Poulsen and not me. These are things that happen in football and it's fine. I could have gone but I didn't because, in the end, they chose someone else.

"Juventus are Juventus, the most prestigious club in Italy, but you cannot be disappointed when you play for Liverpool."
