Liverpool chief executive Ian Ayre says the club are absolutely certain star striker Luis Suarez will be staying with the Reds.

Not for the first time when the striker is away on international duty his comments about a possible move away from Anfield have been seized upon by the international press.

Suarez is reported to have said: "If another team comes around with more prospects of competing in international club competition games, which is willing to have [me], they are welcome.

"We would talk to the club, and we would see if I want to go [or] if I don't want to go."

Ayre believes it is again a case in point whereby players says things when abroad that they do not really mean and he expects him to stay at the club where he has been a massive success and is in line for the Player of the Season award.

Ayre said he was 100% confident that Suarez will be staying, insisting: "He has a four-year contract. We hope he will see it through."
