Calderon back on

LiverpoolLiverpool may play their Champions League match in Madrid after all following reports in Spain that Atletico's ban has been suspended.

Atletico had appealed against the ban and always remained confident that they would face Liverpool at the Vicente Calderon and now according to the Spanish paper the Daily Marca the ban has been postponed until a later date.

Although this has not been confirmed officially if it is correct it will be a massive boost to the 3,000 travelling fans who has already made their arrangements.

Reds boss Rafa Benitez had slammed UEFA for their handling of the Atletico affair and the switching of the tie at such a late date,

Benitez added his voice to the chorus of disapproval that has come UEFA's way, urging the body to reverse their decision.

He said: "To change the venue of the game at such a late stage would cause massive problems to our fans and that is not fair."

It would appear that Europe's governing body have had a rare attack of common sense and reversed their earlier decision.
