Liverpool defender Glen Johnson is in a race against time to be fit for the clash with Everton at Anfield on Tuesday night.

The full-back has been struggling with a niggling knock which has kept him out of the last two games against Arsenal and Sunderland and his fitness will be assessed ahead of the clash with cross city rivals Everton.

The Reds go into the game on the back of three straight Premier League defeats and another set back on Tuesday would see David Moyes' men leapfrog the Reds.

Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish, who bemoaned the lack of luck at Sunderland at the weekend, will also check on the fitness of skipper Steven Gerrard ahead of the clash as he returned to the side as a second half substitute at the Stadium of Light on Saturday.
