Liverpool have suffered a major injury blow as defender Glen Johnson could be out of action until Christmas with ankle trouble.
The England right-back was forced off the pitch during the win over Manchester United after colliding with Lucas Leiva and picking up an injury.
Christmas appears to be the worst-case scenario for the defender and there is a possibility he could be back by November but it is still a blow boss Brendan Rodgers could do without.
It is also a setback for England boss Roy Hodgson as Johnson is almost certain to miss England's next two World Cup 2014 qualifying games against Montenegro and Poland, with wins in both seeing England assured of their place in Brazil next summer.
