Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers is set for a boost on the injury front as Aly Cissokho appears to be closing in on a return.
The left back, on loan from Valencia, has not been involved in the first team since picking up an ankle injury in the win over Notts County in the Capital One Cup last month but turned out for the Under-21s on Monday.
He played the whole 90 minutes for Alex Inglethorpe's side, who were in sensational form as five different scorers helped the Reds to an emphatic 5-0 victory over Spurs, and is now likely to be back in contention for the clash with Newcastle after the international break.
In a further plus for Rodgers both Andre Wisdom and John Flannagan also played the full game and should be fit enough to be involved next time out if called upon.
