Kenny Dalglish has said he understands that both Andy Carroll and Jose Enrique will be nervous when they return to Newcastle.

Liverpool head up to the Sports Direct Arena on Sunday knowing anything short of a victory and their chances of landing a Champions League place are just about over but it will be a big match for the returning Carroll and Enrique who left Newcastle last summer.

He told the club's official website: "It's not a bad thing is it? If you weren't nervous you'd have a wee bit of a problem.

"In my case it was always best to be nervous rather than totally laid back.

"I don't think anyone can be laid back when they go and play at the club that gave him his opportunity in football and turned him into a professional footballer.

"For him (Carroll) and Jose it will be an exciting time to go back."
