Liverpool welcome back Lucas Leiva to their squad for the home clash against Southampton after three months out of action.

The Brazil international has finally recovered from a thigh injury which has kept him out of the side but he was back in training a few weeks ago and is now ready to return to the side but a place on the bench maybe the best he can hope for.

Joe Cole has overcome a hamstring problem which forced him out of the midweek defeat at Tottenham and defender Andre Wisdom, on the bench at White Hart Lane after a knee injury, could come back into contention for a starting place. Stewart Downing is likely to make way if the latter is proved fit.

Elsewhere, midfielders Jonjo Shelvey, Suso and Nuri Sahin will all be hoping for starting spots with boss Brendan Rodgers expected to freshen things up for the Reds' third game in seven days.
