Real Madrid will reportedly step up their efforts to sign Luis Suarez from Liverpool after missing out on Neymar.
Neymar had been Real Madrid's top target but the Brazilian forward has confirmed that he will join Barcelona in the summer and Los Blancos have now turned their attentions to Liverpool star Suarez, according to The Sun.
Suarez has stressed he is happy at Anfield on a number of occasions and Liverpool have no desire to sell their star forward, but Real hope a bid of £40million will be enough to convince the Reds to alter their stance.
Liverpool could face a battle to keep hold of Suarez in the summer even if Real decide against launching a bid as Premier League rivals Manchester City and newly-crowned European champions Bayern Munich have both been credited with an interest in the Uruguayan.
