Reports in Russia say Liverpool have agreed a fee with Shakhtar Donetsk for Henrikh Mkhitaryan and a deal could be completed next week.
Reds boss Brendan Rodgers is known to be a big fan of the Armenian international and has been trying to conclude a deal to sign him since the end of last season.
It had been claimed that the 24-year-old didn't turn up for pre-season training with Shakhtar, as he looks to earn himself a move away from the Ukrainian outfit.
Champions League finalists Borussia Dortmund and Tottenham have also been chasing his signature, but it is understood Liverpool are now in pole position to capture the playmaker.
Shakhtar chief executive Sergei Palkin admitted this week that there have been offers for Mkhitaryan, with the latest reports suggesting a fee of £25million has been agreed.
