Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers has reportedly joined the race to sign Porto midfielder Fernando but they face a battle to land him.

The Brazilian has been linked with a move to Italy, with Napoli said to be very keen, but they are not alone and domestically both Manchester United and Everton have also been linked, so the Reds will have to make a move very quickly if they are to land him.

Porto want the 26-year-old to agree a new contract in Portugal, as his current one runs out in the summer so right now he could walk away for a fraction of what he is worth, and his agent Antonio Araujo, has suggested they are close to agreeing an extension with the Blue and Whites.
