Atletico Madrid's Turkish international Arda Turan is said to be on Brendan Rodgers' shopping list but he faces a battle to land him.
The midfielder reportedly has a release clause worth £33m in his contract and that may well put off would-be suitors but it has not stopped the media in Turkey claiming a move is on the cards in the new year.
Rodgers is always on the lookout for quality additions to his side as Liverpool look to maintain their good start to the season but arch rivals Manchester United are also keen as David Moyes looks to try and kick start their campaign.
Atletico sit second in the Spanish League and will not be in a rush to lose one of the mirost effective attackers, but if the right offer were to be made they may find it hard to refuse.
Turan's agent, Ahmet Bulut, revealed last season that the attacker aims to play his football in England at some point in the future and hinted at interest from United and Liverpool.
"A destination in the Premier League would be to the liking of the player and I can confirm there are clubs interested, like the two mentioned," said Bulut.
"He wants to work in England."
