Reds eye midfielder

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers is said to be keen on Hamburg midfielder Haken Calhanoglu but Arsenal are the favourites to sign him.

Gunners boss Arsene Wenger is leading the chase to sign the 19-year-old but Rodgers is also thought to be keeping a close eye on the situation.

Hamburg do not want to sell but they would apparently struggle to keep hold of the Turkish star if an offer were to be put forward in the new year.

Rodgers has more immediate concerns in his midfield with the absence of the injured Steven Gerrard and worries over Jordan Henderson ahead of the clash with Spurs this weekend.
