Liverpool are on the trail of Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Marco Verratti but they face a major battle to land him.

The 20-year-old Italian international is very highly rated in France but he has also come to the fore in the Champions League this season and that has alerted others to his abilities.

As well as Brendan Rodgers at Liverpool both Manchester United and Real Madrid are also on his trail and it could come down to a bidding war in the summer.

PSG want to keep hold of one of their rising stars and they certainly have the money to keep him in the French capital so they will not be bullied into selling.

If they were to allow him to leave they would be looking for the maximum amount of money they could get for him, possibly as much as £30m.
