Liverpool have missed out on transfer target Sidney Sam from Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen as he's joining rivals Schalke.

Reds boss Brendan Rodgers has been linked with the 25-year-old, as had Tottenham, but his move to German rivals Schalke has apparently been confirmed.

The German international midfielder has again been outstanding in the Bundesliga this season with seven goals in five games but he has now agreed a four year deal with Schalke starting on July 1.
