Philippe Coutinho is not available to make his Liverpool debut at Manchester City on Sunday, according to assistant boss Colin Pascoe.
Reds chief Brendan Rodgers swooped to sign the highly-rated 20-year-old Brazilian from Italian giants Inter Milan for a fee of around £8.5million.
Coutinho was immediately handed the number 10 shirt at Anfield and it was initially hoped that the attacking midfield starlet would be thrust into action against the reigning Premier League champions at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday.
However, Pascoe has now revealed that the player is not at the club as he is still completing his move to England from Italy.
"He's away at the moment, getting things sorted," Pascoe told Liverpool's official website.
"On Monday or Tuesday, he'll come here and we'll assess him then."
Jose Enrique could be in action against City with Pascoe revealing that he is making good progress following his return against Arsenal in Wednesday's 2-2 draw at the Emirates Stadium.
