Liverpool are weighing up several strikers to replace Barcelona-bound Luis Suarez, with Swansea star Wilfried Bony among them.
Suarez will be confirmed as a Barca player next week after the Reds announced on Friday they had agreed a deal with the Catalan giants.
It is thought the Uruguay international's fee is in the region of £75million, meaning boss Brendan Rodgers has plenty of money to spend to find a replacement before the transfer window closes.
Swansea's Ivory Coast star Bony is on a shortlist of frontmen he has drawn up but no offer has been made to the Welsh club. Widespread reports claim he has a £19million release clause in his contract and Liverpool are weighing up whether to activate it.
Bony, who joined the Swans from Dutch side Vitesse last summer for £12million, hit an impressive 25 goals in all competitions last season and has attracted attention from across the Premier League, with Tottenham also particularly interested.
Other potential Suarez replacements include Real Madrid's France international Karim Benzema, who could be available relatively cheaply at around £25million because he has just a year left on his current Bernabeu deal, while Aston Villa striker Christian Benteke has also been mentioned.
Meanwhile, Benfica winger Lazar Markovic is expected to complete a medical over the weekend and join the Reds in a £20million deal to become the fourth summer signing following the earlier arrivals of Rickie Lambert, Adam Lallana and Emre Can.
Rodgers is also keen to sign Southampton centre-back Dejan Lovren but Saints are standing firm as they want £20million for him, while Sevilla left-back Alberto Moreno and Chelsea defender Ryan Bertrand are other targets.
