Liverpool have been hit with a big blow on the injury front as Philippe Coutinho looks set to be out of action for at least a month.
The Brazilian was injured in the draw with Swansea on Monday, when he fell awkwardly after a challenge from defender Ashley Williams, and he now is set to have minor surgery on the shoulder which will keep him out until next month.
A club statement read: "After being assessed by the Reds medical staff, it's been decided that Coutinho will now have surgical stabilisation on the AC joint in his shoulder.
"Liverpool hope to have the 21-year-old back in contention again towards the end of October."
It is a major blow for Brendan Rodgers' side as they top the current Premier League standings, with Coutinho's contribution being significant so far in the early-season games.
In Coutinho's absence, summer signings Luis Alberto will hope for more action, while Raheem Sterling is another option out wide for Rodgers.
