Liverpool are being linked with a January raid for Borussia Dortmund winger Kevin Grosskreutz, who is valued at £8million.
The German international has been in fine form so far this season and Reds boss Brendan Rodgers sent scouts to watch him in Champions League action against Ajax in midweek.
The 24-year-old shone during a 4-1 win for the Bundesliga side and reports are growing that Rodgers could be lining up a swoop ahead of the transfer window opening.
Grosskreutz still has just over 18 months to run on his current deal and will not come cheap, while Liverpool will face strong competition should Dortmund opt to cash in.
The player seems to have his heart set on a move to England though and could soon link up with former team-mate Nuri Sahin at Anfield.
"The Premier League will be my first choice," he said. "I really like English football."
