West Ham appear to have joined the race for Holland international Eljero Elia who is a long-term Liverpool target.
The Reds have been monitoring the progress of the midfielder for two years when he was playing for Hamburg, and they were expected to land him then but he instead chose to go to Juventus.
That move did not work out and he returned to the Bundesliga last summer with Werder Bremen where he has been a regular.
Now Hammers boss Sam Allardyce is said to be lining up a move for the 26-year-old, although until Allardyce's own future is sorted out with West Ham, summer transfer targets may take a back seat.
According to reports in Russia, CSKA Moscow are also preparing a bid for the midfielder so it could be a three-way battle for his signature.
