Liverpool are reportedly considering selling Luis Suarez in an attempt to save face following the club's PR own goal at the weekend.

The £22.8m striker has been accused by Reds officials of misleading them ahead of Saturday's game against Manchester United after refusing to shake the hand of Patrice Evra before kick-off.

Suarez was facing United for the first time since being found guilty of racially abusing the Frenchman during an October meeting between the two sides at Anfield which resulted in him landing an eight match ban.

Managing Director Ian Ayre issued an apology yesterday for the Uruguayan actions insisting he had given them his word in the lead-up to the game that he would shake Evra's hand to signal an end to the row.

Suarez and manager Kenny Dalglish also offered up their own statements for their conduct on an emotional afternoon but the Daily Mirror are now suggesting that the striker could be offload for "lying to his manager and undermining the club."

Reds owners Fenway Sports Group are thought to be deeply concerned about his behaviour which has potentially damaged the club's international brand and John Henry is said to be seriously weighing up the possibility of cutting their losses on the former Ajax hitman.

The newspaper also claim that an internal disciplinary hearing is being launched into the matter, which could result in a fine for the 25-year-old.
