Liverpool goalkeeper Pepe Reina is expected to seal a season-long loan move to Napoli to team up again with Rafa Benitez.
Reina's future at Anfield as first choice looked bleak this season following the £9million capture of Simon Mignolet from Sunderland and now the 30-year-old is expected to join the Italian side and work again under Benitez, who first signed him for the Reds back in 2005.
Current boss Brendan Rodgers had said he expected Reina to stay and compete with Mignolet for a starting role in the coming campaign, but it seems the lure of working again for his former manager and goalkeeping coach Xavi Valero has been too hard to resist for the Spain international.
Reina had been heavily linked with a return to former club Barcelona earlier this summer but Victor Valdes' decision to stay on at the Nou Camp for another season has put that potential switch on hold for at least 12 months.
Young Reds keeper Danny Ward is set to fly out to join Liverpool's pre-season tour in Australia next week instead of Reina, acting as back-up to Mignolet and Brad Jones.
