Rodgers hits out at officials

Brendan Rodgers slammed referee Phil Dowd following the defeat at Spurs on Wednesday after Steven Gerrard was felled by Mousa Dembele.

The Reds skipper was left poleaxed after a challenge from Dembele in the first half of the 2-1 defeat at White Hart Lane and Rodgers was left fuming with that challenge and one where William Gallas left Luis Suarez flattened in the penalty area.

Liverpool have yet to get a penalty this season and Rodgers was left fuming with referee Dowd who waved away appeals for both challenges.

"I don't know what Gerrard and Suarez have to do get a pen," said Rodgers.

"I thought it was bordering on assault on Gerrard.

"We're bitterly disappointed to have lost, but if we continue to play like that we will climb the league quickly."
