Martin Skrtel admits he does not know what the future holds for him at Liverpool but says he would like to stay at Anfield.
The Slovakian ace struggled for regular first-team football last season when making just four starts as Jamie Carragher got the nod from boss Brendan Rodgers.
Carragher may have retired but at least one central defender is on Rodgers' wanted list with Kolo Toure and Kyriakos Papadopoulos both being linked with a move to Anfield.
Skrtel hopes he still has a part to play in Liverpool's future although he accepts he may have to move on if Rodgers decides to cash in when the transfer window re-opens.
"I do not want to be that specific," he revealed when asked what percentage chance there is he will stay. "The club has the biggest say in this in any case, because they have the right for it with me being contracted.
"Besides, I am not saying that I want to leave at any cost. I feel sorry for what happened in this season. But I have been here for five-and-a-half years and I have built a position here."
