Striker linked with Reds switch

LiverpoolLiverpool boss Rafa Benitez is said to be lining up a January move to sign striker Fernando Cavenaghi from Bordeaux.

The 25-year-old Argentinian international has caught the eye again this term with four goals in seven starts in France to follow up last season's tally of 22 goals in 35 games.

Reports in France say his form has not gone unnoticed and that Benitez is looking at paying £13m for the striker in January to ease the burden on Fernando Torres.

Cavenaghi is keen to play in England but whether Benitez has any real interest remains to be seen, especially after forking out almost £20m on Robbie Keane in the summer.

He also has Dirk Kuyt who he recently praised for his unsung contribution to the side.
