Liverpool have announced the premature end of Nuri Sahin's loan spell, with the midfielder re-joining Borussia Dortmund.

The Real Madrid ace joined the Reds on loan in the summer and looked to be making a positive impact earlier in the season, making 12 appearances and scoring three goals.

Sahin though looked to be no longer part of Brendan Rodgers' plans, having not featured in the Premier League since the 1-1 draw with Chelsea in early November.

Now the Turkish international, who was due to stay at Anfield until the end of the season, has been allowed to move on and join the German champions until the summer.

Sahin spent six years in Dortmund between 2005 and 2011 and the 24-year-old is hoping to enjoy more success in the Bundesliga, with suggestions a permanent return could be in the offing at the end of the campaign.
